This mat has a central recess, designed to increase the adhesion of the disc to the platter and improve the sound quality by allowing the record's label to sit inside it. This has the effect of improving tracking and stability, minimising noise and interference that can be transmitted through the tonearm.

Silicone rubber mats have been noted to provide a tighter bass response, as well as offering superb grip helping to reduce unwanted vibrations. There's also a reduction in static build up that is notable compared to mats of other materials, this is due to thick rubber having low conductivity. Rubber mats are perhaps the best material for isolating the record from vibration interference. They offer superb grip and durability, with plenty of listeners reporting a deeper, warmer sound.
